Andre

Hello! I am Andre, a Law freshman at NUS. In 2018 I graduated with a ‘7’ in HL Language and Literature, and an ‘A’ for my Extended Essay in the same subject.

I was compelled to teach Language and Literature because language is all around us. It promotes a keen understanding of how language either supports or challenges society’s ways of thinking and being. Lang-Lit is especially useful as it develops academic literacy - preparing students for higher education.

I hope to impart the ability to distill complex concepts into easily digestible yet comprehensive explanations. This is a skill that in Lang-Lit, as in life, is advantageous and awakens the quiet confidence that is unrealised within each individual.

In addition to more conventional texts, students will engage with additional materials, unseen in school. This method reflects the flexible nature of how Lang-Lit is taught and learned. By its description, it is a subject that demands an open-minded thinker with robust critical instinct. I believe an appreciation for scholarly articles and journals enhance understanding of the subject, particularly for Literature. Ultimately, I will commit to a tailored lesson plan that enables each student to learn with sharp efficacy.
