Hello, my name is Mikael. I teach History & Economics. I graduated from ACS Independent in 2016 and am currently pursuing a Law degree at Singapore Management University.

In my opinion, Economics is one of the most important subjects you can take – it ties into everything that’s happening around the World. Having said that, if you’re struggling with it, I understand how you feel. I spent some time struggling with the subject, it was just too new and too different after O’ levels and I couldn’t wrap my head around it.

Some teachers teach in ways that don’t build up a student’s understanding. This is something that I believe is paramount in the IBDP curriculum. Students have to understand the topic, then appreciate how it is interconnected with others, while learning how to apply textbook concepts to real-world scenarios. When I changed the way I studied, things started clicking in place, as I’ve seen with many students.

My teaching ideology is to help equip students with the necessary evaluative skills and techniques for the IBDP examinations, while at the same time inculcating in them the desire to learn more and to apply what they have learnt in the curriculum.
