Rethik Raj

Hey everyone! I’m Rethik, a fourth year student in NUS medicine 👋🏻 I teach mainly  IB Mathematics and Biology and I’ve been teaching both subjects since I graduated IB!

Growing up, I always viewed Maths as a sort of game, with each question being a personal challenge to see if I can derive the answer. Maths is a very rational subject and the logical flow has always appealed to me. The moment when all the pieces fit together is always satisfying, no matter how challenging the question is.

My students can expect a systematic approach to solving questions which will definitely benefit them as the IB Maths syllabus is integrated and demands linking knowledge across different topics. My hope is to be able to guide them in achieving the goals they have set for themselves and becoming more confident in their own mathematical abilities

Looking back, perhaps I’m drawn to Biology for the same reasons as Maths! It’s very satisfying to see various components of life come together to make one big picture akin to pieces of a puzzle fitting together. Though challenging to remember the huge amount of information required for the IB bio syllabus, I believe understanding the big picture before zooming into the details is key to doing well for biology.

Regardless of where students are in their IB journey, I hope they feel passionate about these subjects after my classes, the same way my tutors made me feel!
